May 9 – Europe Day

2 min read

On Europe Day, we celebrated the occasion with a series of inspiring initiatives – “Europe in the City,” “Fairytale Europe,” and “Social Europe.”

Together with citizens, children, partners, and guests of Ruse, we created a festive atmosphere filled with conversations, new encounters, engaging initiatives, and shared experiences that reminded us how important connectivity, active participation, and community truly are. We held interactive discussions, quizzes, and activities that brought together people of different ages and turned Europe Day into a true celebration of togetherness.

We are especially delighted that, in addition to meeting many residents of Ruse, we also had the opportunity to welcome tourists from different countries to our city and share with them the spirit of the European community and connectedness.

At 12:00 PM, we also enjoyed an exciting performance by the Brass Band of the City of Ruse, which performed “Ode to Joy” – the anthem of the European Union – making the celebration even more emotional and ceremonial.

As part of the “Fairytale Europe” initiative, organized in cooperation with the Children’s Department of the Regional Library “Lyuben Karavelov,” children enthusiastically took part in games, puzzles, and creative activities, showing curiosity, imagination, and a desire to learn more about Europe in a fun and accessible way.

The festive program also included the “Social Europe” initiative, held at the “Mercy” Home for Adults with Physical Disabilities in Ruse. Together with the residents, we discussed the importance of a social and supportive Europe, the right to a dignified life, support, and participation in society. The meeting took place in a warm and emotional atmosphere, filled with shared personal stories, reflections, and heartfelt messages to Europe.

Through today’s events, we succeeded in achieving our main goal – to create a space for communication, sharing, and active participation, where Europe was not just a topic, but an experience that brings us together, inspires us, and reminds us that together we are stronger.

We would like to thank the Municipality of Ruse and all participants, partners, and guests who were part of this special day!
